In Rooting already talked at the time of the various Linux desktops and characteristics of each , today, and you’ve probably accustomed to using any of them. If you have not done and you’re using your system brings Default I invite you to test the change, specifically to you to try Cinnamon.
Cinnamon is a desktop environment emerged for Linux Mint but today get along with the distribution of Canonical , is a minimalist desktop, you can customize almost completely, gives much play, and especially going fluidísimo much more than Unity.
Unfortunately no repositories for Cinnamon in its latest version for Ubuntu 14.04 or 14.10 so users you please try this new environment will have to Conform with version 2.4, on the other hand has nothing to envy, it works fine and is very full.
Installing Cinnamon in Ubuntu
The first thing we will do is add the repository containing Cinnamon to our sources of software, like this:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: tsvetko.tsvetkov / cinnamon
Update and install the package mentioned:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
Once installed, you must log out of your account and the input screen select Cinnamon Ubuntu .
If you want the icons and themes of Linux Mint GTK , use this command:
sudo apt-get install mint-themes
Remove Cinnamon
If you want to delete Cinnamon and all files that are related using the following commands:
sudo apt-get purge cinnamon muffin cjs * Nemo * * python-nemo
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tsvetko_tsvetkov-cinnamon*.list
sudo apt-get update
This way your system will have no trace of Linux Mint environment.
Personally Cinnamon seems a very appropriate choice for those looking for minimalism and simplicity in a desktop environment, on the other hand I think an alternative for users who want to make the leap from Windows to Linux because it is a simple and comfortable desk. And you, what desktop environment you use in your Linux system? Have you had problems with Cinnamon? Please leave your comment
